Progress Report

December, 2018

Phase 1 curbside recycling participants are doing a great job collecting clean, acceptable material. We currently have a contamination rate of 15%. Although this is a good rate, we could be doing even better. Here are some of the common things we are seeing in the blue carts that should be left out:

Common curbside contamination:

  • plastic film/wrap
  • paper towels/tissue
  • hazardous material (including aerosol cans)
  • lumber/wood
  • clothing/shoes
  • shredded paper
  • glass
  • plastic bags
  • dirty pizza boxes
  • styrofoam
  • electronics
  • organic waste (food or yard waste)
  • paper drink cups
